PLANNING YOUR GIFT
 | | Bob and Jamie Craft "The couple became the backbone of The Washington Opera's key support groups. ..." [read more] | We deeply appreciate your considering Washington National Opera in your financial, estate, and philanthropic plans. With a bequest or other planned gift, you can perpetuate Washington National Opera’s dynamic performances and build the bridge from this generation of opera lovers to the next. We want to work with you to make your gift rewarding for you and for the Opera. We hope the financial tools on this site will help you to plan a mutually beneficial gift. You might consider that: - You don't have to use cash to make your gift -- you can give the Opera appreciated securities instead, and use an asset that could cost you less than the tax deduction you'll get for it today.
- You may be holding assets that you no longer need, that would benefit the Opera more than they do you -- such as a life insurance policy, a parcel of real estate like a second home or undeveloped land, or jewelry you no longer wear.
- You can make a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime -- make the Opera a beneficiary of your will or revocable trust, or a beneficiary of your retirement plan, and leave your cash flow and current financial planning uninterrupted.
- You can make the Opera a partner in your giving -- you can make a gift that pays you lifetime income, such as a gift annuity or a charitable trust, or you can sell us property at a charitable discount.
These tools are called planned gifts, and this website is the place to learn more about them. Where to start? If you already know something about your giving options, click on All Gifts-at-a-Glance and go right to the planned gifts that you want to read more about. When you're ready to hear more, complete the Information Request Form for follow-up information from us. Thank you for considering the Washington National Opera. Welcome! We're very glad you're here, and our staff will provide information and assistance to you and your advisors.
